Fixed Fees
A fixed fee invoice is an invoice that contains a total amount due without
itemized time and cost entries. There are several ways to create a fixed
fee invoice. The method you choose depends on the functionality available
in your time and billing system, your billing practices and whether you
plan to mix fixed fees and with other types of line items on the same
invoice. The following are methods to create a fixed fee invoice:
- If timecards/expenses need to be shown
as one fixed fee entry in the electronic billing file, the matter
needs to have an arrangement type of fixed fee. Matter arrangement
types can be mapped from your Time & Billing system in Configure
the eBillingHub, Map Matter Arrangement Types.
- If the invoice has no timecards (interim
or fixed fee bills), it will automatically show a single entry in
the electronic billing file. In the LEDES format, this will be shown
as an IF line.
- If an invoice has a single timecard treated
as a flat fee, it will appear as a fixed fee bill in the electronic
billing file. For more information, see Flat
Entries.
