Access the Connectivity Page for Legal Precision

To access the Connectivity page for Legal Precision:

  1. From the Main Menu, go to Configuration.
  2. Click Configure eBilling Vendor Connectivity.
  3. Click the Legal Precision (Lexis Nexis Examen) link. The Configure Connectivity to LegalPrecision (LexisNexis Examen) window displays.

eBilling Setup on Legal Precision

The following steps must be completed on Legal Precision to successfully submit invoices through eBillingHub. The client may impose additional requirements.

  1. The eBilling Vendor connectivity for Legal Precision must be correctly set up with a valid password. For more information see, Configure eBilling Vendor Connectivity.
  2. Both the File Number and the Matter Number must be supplied in the invoice. For more information, see Legal Precision Extended Fields.
  3. The matter must be an Active Matter in Legal Precision.
  4. The matter in Legal Precision must be edited to include the Law Firm's matter ID.
  5. A Fee Structure and Budget must be approved for the matter.
  6. Timekeepers and levels are entered in Office Administration, Add Employee. Timekeepers are assigned to a particular level.

Track Legal Precision Invoices

Legal Precision tracks the following statuses for invoices. Links to each invoice status are on the main page in Legal Precision.

Explanation

Notification

None - not in system

The invoice was not successfully uploaded. This can happen if the invoice is in an invalid format.

Email with the subject: LegalPrecision - Invalid Invoice.

In Process - Successful upload

The invoice is in a valid format and is being further validated.

Email with the subject: Web Upload file submission confirmation.

In Process - Rejection

Once an invoice is successfully uploaded, the invoice goes through two additional stages of validation:

Parser (Examen defined rules). Invoices can be rejected at this stage if there is one of the following:

  • math error

  • embedded charge / adjustment

  • unknown biller

  • bad date (e.g., 2/31/2003)

  • bad claim or matter number

Validation (Customer defined rules). Invoices can be rejected at this stage if there is one of the following:

  • duplicate invoice number

  • block-billed charge

  • unapproved rate

Email with the subject: Problem with Invoice "Inv[EBH Ref $].xml" Submitted on [date]

Active

Invoices that have passed initial automated processing, but have not yet been reviewed by the client.

Collaborative Review

Back and forth exchange between the client and law firm regarding adjusted invoices and appeals.

Approved

Invoice has been approved after secondary review by the client. The approval may indicate that certain charges on the invoice were not approved. The email will indicate the amount of the invoice that was approved for payment.
